This person should have a sharp editorial eye, be well versed in culture news emerging around the globe, and have a drive for finding unique stories that are a fit for the VICE audience. A background in editing meaty, sensitive stories is preferred, as is a sense of humor.

Responsibilities include:
-Generating story ideas as well as commissioning and editing articles from freelancers and staff. Broadly defined, “features” does not mean every story we put out is investigative longform journalism; the desk regularly produces pieces that frequently take a breath (or many breaths) longer than a quick-turn news cycle and vary in format
-Regular collaboration with social, visual and video teams to extend our reporting and creative ideas into formats that tell our stories the best
-Managing the day-to-day workflow for each quarterly thematic digital tentpole and issue of VICE Magazine, including keeping tabs on the production calendar, handling proofs and layouts, budget, contracts, and invoices
-Managing freelance fact-checkers and copy editor and those processes
Requirements:
-5-7 years of editing experience
-Experience managing multi-format digital projects
-Strong organizational and collaboration skills
-The ability to manage and communicate multiple deadlines
-Experience commissioning and managing freelance relationships

-Familiarity with print or managing multi-format projects
