Job Description SummaryThe Maintenance Specialist in the Schenectady Facilities Operation group will troubleshoot and analyze machine tools in our Steam Turbine & Generator manufacturing plant within GE VERNOVA Gas Power in Schenectady, NY. They will be expected to make business critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics within a particular cell.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze Machine Tools failures for indications of assignable causes, identify and recommend corrective actions, and work with group to implement.Become the technical expert on industrial equipment maintenance and operation for CNC machine tools, robotics, and hydraulic systems for multiple source vendors, controls and processes. Identify and diagnose problems related to the proper operation of equipment mechanically, hydraulically and electrically.Work closely with the Operations Manager in assigned area, providing him with weekly metrics on performance, schedules on critical repairs, as well as daily updates on critical equipment.Perform as a primary point of contact with Equipment OEM and parts vendors.Recommend major rebuilds, and redesigns to Manufacturing Engineering, and perform minor redesigns for the elimination of future breakdownsWork closely with Manufacturing Engineering in the review, design, installation and upgrade of machines, prepare Preventative Maintenance schedule, lubrication charts, identify and ensure necessary spare parts levels.Lead teams of hourly trade personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and modify industrial machineryDirect and train skilled trades in the latest repair techniques and maintenance methodsContribute to continuous improvement using Lean and 5S Initiatives.Develop opportunities for reducing operating expenses and improving capabilitiesActive participation in safety initiatives.
