Within Janssen Research & Development, the Biotherapeutics Development & Supply (BTDS) organization is responsible for the development, clinical supply, marketed product support, and life cycle management of Biotherapeutics. Within BTDS, the Analytical Development (AD) group supports method development and validation, as well as product development, release, and stability analytics via automated workflows.The Laboratory Automation & Robotics team is recruiting for a Sr. Associate Automation Scientist to collaborate in migrating analytical assays from manual processes to fully automated end to end workflows. In this role you will collaborate with Assay Automation, Integration Automation, Assay Development SMEs, and end-users to increase sample testing throughput and/or reduce hands-on time, time-to-result, repetitive strain, and assay variability. The primary scientific area of focus will be in cell and gene therapies, implementing automated analytical workflows such as antigen binding, molecular, cell-based, and chromatography.Primary Responsibilities:Depending on your skills and interest the responsibilities will include:Collaborate within a cross-functional team to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end automation solutions for analytical workflowsCollaborate in automated workflow design, and execute experimentation for device/instrument selection or refinement/improvement of laboratory processesDevelop, maintain, and optimize automated scripts to expand HT sample testing using automated liquid handling and end-to-end automation platformsOptimize existing automated solutions to provide new functionalitySupport and troubleshoot automated solutions for high-throughput sample testing, including technical investigation supportCollaborate with AD Operations and IT to automate data flow within laboratory automation solutions (LIMS/metadata, CQA, results, etc.)Knowledge transfer and technical cross-trainingEnsure data integrity through accurate and timely data capture/entry into appropriate electronic systemsQualificationsRequired:a M.S./B.S. in Biology, Engineering, Biochemistry, Computer Science or equivalent is requireda M.S. with 3 or more years, or B.S. with 5 or more years of laboratory automation experience is requiredExperience with operating, maintaining, and optimizing in one of the following lab automation areas: 1.) Integrated robotic systems using dynamic scheduling software, such as Biosero Green Button Go, HighRes Biosolutions Cellario, or Thermo Scientific Momentum, OR 2.) Liquid handling platforms, such as Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman Coulter, Agilent is requiredExperience implementing automated laboratory workflows and high-throughput methods within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry; this may include instrument configuration, liquid handling, or method programming is requiredAbility to identify/understand sophisticated customer needs and help craft automated solutions for laboratory workflows is requiredExperience with biological or biochemical assays; migration of bench techniques to automated systems is requiredStrong organizational and interpersonal skills (both written and oral), with the ability to closely collaborate with scientists, vendors, and external teams is requiredPreferred:Experience with various programming languages, such as C#, Python, Visual Basic, C++ is preferredExperience with automation software packages such as Hamilton Venus, Tecan Fluent Control, Biosero Green Button Go, or Thermo Momentum is preferredExperience with analytical method development is preferredExperience with automated sample management systems and software, such as Azenta, Askion, or Hamilton is preferredExperience working with instrument APIs is preferredExperience working with remote teams is preferredJohnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
