Job Description/RequirementsAbout the RoleAs VP, Technology, the successful candidate will oversee the ongoing execution of contract R&D activities and serve on the board of directors of IMAX Theatres International Limited (ITIL), a subsidiary of IMAX. You will manage and realize value from ITIL’s patent and technology portfolio and work closely with the CTO of IMAX and his management team to identify new technology and future revenue generating opportunities related to new technology; activities associated with this aspect of the role include market research, recommendations for potential technology partnerships, and development of proof-of-concepts.What You’ll Do:Oversee ongoing contract R&D activities, including monitoring of critical milestonesIdentify new product and planning opportunities related to ITIL IP and new technologyParticipate and attend regular meetings with IMAX’s technology team (i.e., Chief Technology Officer, Distinguished Engineer, R&D and SVP Engineering) to discuss R&D strategy, technology advancements and new product opportunitiesAssess new technology and conduct market research - white papers, presentations, etc…Locally liaise with R&D and technology partners and equipment suppliersOversee generation and maintenance of ITIL IPIdentify new ITIL IP opportunities, oversee exploitation and protection of ITIL IP, including licensing opportunities, investigations and diligenceLiaise with IMAX’s technology and patent teams to review and manage ITIL’s global IP portfolioUpdate and make recommendations to ITIL board of directorsWhat You’ll Need:15+ years of experience with both hardware and software systems10+ years of hands-on ability to dig into technology diligence5+ years of past success with senior management level presentations3+ years of experience managing IP portfolios and with patent processes3+ years of experience working with remote teams, time zone differences3+ years of experience working with R&D teamsExcellent written and verbal skills, able to write and present coherent technical statements of work, business proposals and executive summariesDiligent, methodical, self-driven, gets things doneOur Commitment To YouAt IMAX, you will be part of a culture built on respect - we are committed to creating a welcoming and diverse atmosphere across our organization.For consideration, please apply online.
